The new Suvarnabhumi Airport, located 30 kilometers (19 miles) east of the city center, is a gleaming testament to Thailand’s desire to be the transportation hub of Asia. Choosing a hotel near the airport is a good bet if you’re just passing through, or if you are visiting areas East and South of Bangkok.
Visit the Crocodile Farm in Samutprakarn for an educational and entertaining outing. The largest centre in the world for crocodiles, the farm is an education and research centre for the conservation of crocodiles in the wild. You’ll also enjoy the amazing crocodile shows, elephant shows, elephant and camel rides, and the monkey playground.
Seacon Square, located just 14 kilometres (8.7 miles) from the airport, offers over 400 shops on 7 levels. With a variety of restaurants and entertainments, there is plenty to occupy even the hardiest shopper.
Golf courses abound on the outskirts of Bangkok, and Pattaya, an hour from Suvarnabhumi, has a multitude of courses with reasonable prices. Staying outside the city centre gets you to the greens with minimal traffic and inconvenience. |
